Known for his stimulating topics and engaging presentational style, Joseph is in demand as a speaker on an array of musical subjects. With venues ranging from the British Museum to London's Conway Hall, festivals like the English Music Festival and the Whittington International Chamber Music Festival, Joseph is particularly at home enlivening musical performances for concert audiences, with a knack for explaining musical features and interesting points in clear language for all music lovers.

As an academic, he has presented his work at many of the main conferences in the UK and USA, and in 2017 he returned to Harvard University as Artist-in-Residence with the Harvard Choruses, working with them on their programme of Brahms.
